The Cosmonaut is a project by the Riot Cinema Collective and of the Spanish writer-director Nicolas Alcala to shoot and offer for free (in a simultaneous release in theatres, TV, DVD and Internet streaming) a science fiction movie set during the space race, from the Russian side. With a huge amount of support, both financial (over €400,000 achieved through crowdfunding) and structural (in The Cosmonaut professional former Russian cosmonauts and scientists participated in the film and photography), and one can say that The Cosmonaut project has come to fruition, with its international premiere.
The Cosmonaut tells a science fiction story made ??from the heart, based on a true story, the first Russian cosmonaut to reach the Moon in 1975, but who didn't return. After being given up as lost in space The Cosmonaut, however, doesn't feel lost and, through ghostly radio messages, claims to have returned to Earth and found it empty, with not a soul around. His unreal presence and voice will gradually destroy the world of his loved ones.
